As the gates closed on Rare Spares Rockynats 03, with a record-breaking 1,500 cars competing and around 20,000 tickets sold, news of next year’s event was excitedly met as Rockynats 04 was announced for the Easter long weekend of 29-31 March 2024.

This year’s record-breaking event attracted an estimated 57,000 attendees through the precinct gates over the long weekend. The first non-COVID event saw a clear boost in attendee numbers, and the atmosphere of the event was electric.

Rockhampton Regional Council Mayor Tony Williams is justifiably proud of the way the community has pulled together to put on the supercharged event this long weekend.

“Rockynats 03 was a stellar event bringing thousands of visitors and residents out to enjoy the motorsport competitions, entertainment, and activities across the city. It’s events like Rockynats that really show off the best our city has to offer. A big thanks to all the competitors, crowds and staff who made this event the biggest and best yet.”

Rare Spares Rockynats 03 by the numbers:

  • 1,500 vehicles entered across the event
  • 1,300 cars in the CANNA Street Parade
  • Over 100 competitors at the Buddy’s Fire Burnout Precinct, sending 2 Pro winners to Summernats 36
  • 443 vehicles down the street-built 1/8th mile Garrett Motion Street Dragstrip
  • 257 vehicles in the Burson Grass Driving event
  • 43 vehicles in the Rev’s Paint Supplies Elite competition
  • 7 vehicles unveiled at the Rev’s Paint Supplies Elite Unveil show
  • 61 glorious mullets on stage at Mulletfest
  • 29 entrants in the Hello Stranger Tattoo Competition

Advance Rockhampton Executive Manager Greg Bowden says Rockynats 03 was one for the record books.

“I am consistently hearing that Rockynats is an event that people want to keep coming back to – and our supporter base is constantly growing. This is yet another tick in the box for Rockhampton as a vibrant event destination and the home of Beef, Barra, and Burnouts.”

With competition records falling left, right and centre, Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez thanked Rockhampton for yet another warm welcome.

“It’s a big endeavour producing a major event like Rockynats, but as well as a lot of hard work to make happen, it also requires the city to welcome us all and embrace the influx of people, cars, and bikes that come to enjoy Central Queensland. In the three years we’ve been showing, racing, drifting, skidding, and cruising, we’ve always felt the enthusiasm for a good time from the people of Rockhampton. In three short years, the Rare Spares Rockynats has set the gold standard for automotive events in Australia. We can’t wait to be back in 2024.”

Entries and tickets for Rare Spares Rockynats 04 will go on sale on 25 July 2023. Keep up with the latest Rockynats news at www.rockynats.com.au, or by searching Rockynats on Facebook.
