Becoming a Volunteer is one of the best ways to experience Queensland’s largest car festival, Rare Spares Rockynats.

With a wide variety of roles available that are vital to the safety, success and spectator enjoyment of the event, allowing you to develop your skills and meet like-minded people! A full list of roles and descriptions are outlined below.

AVAILABLE ROLES

BURNOUTS

The Burnout Team will work under the guidance of the Burnouts Operations Manager and Chief Steward to assist, inform and guide Rockynats entrants in their participation in and around the Burnout Pad. There will be a requirement for a number of volunteers to assist in the pre-staging checks (correct attire, driver and passenger waivers are signed, fire suits are being worn where required etc.), as well as other tasks as required. 

*A Motorsport Australia Licence is required for this role

DREAM CRUISE TEAM

Under the guidance of the Street Parade Manager, the traffic and form-up teams will assist, inform and guide Rockynats entrant in their participation in the Dream Cruise. Some of the tasks may include marshaling of cars, assisting with form-up and traffic management (directing cars in and out of the precinct/s), and other areas or tasks as required.

*Training will be provided where required

FIRE & RESCUE TEAM

The Fire and Rescue Team are the trained Fire & Rescue Marshals stationed in fire vehicles, or on foot at areas and events as required. These areas include but are not limited to – Burnouts, Drag Racing, Drifting and Scrutineering. 

*A Motorsport Australia Licence and previous fire & rescue experience is required for this role

MOTORBIKES

The Motorbike will work under the guidance of the Bike Manager to assist, inform and guide Rockynats entrants in their participation within the bike precinct. Some of the tasks may include marshaling of bikes, assisting with biker games and traffic management (directing bikes in and out of the precinct/s/parking), and other areas or tasks as required.

* Training will be provided where required

SCRUTINEERS

Under the guidance of the Scrutineering Manager, Chief Scrutineer and the Chief Steward, scrutineers will be required to check the Rockynats entrant vehicles to ensure they comply with the safety rules and regulations, as required for participation in the Rockynats. Basic motor vehicle safety knowledge will be required to work in this role.

*A Motorsport Australia Licence is required for this role

SCRUTINEERING - ADMIN

Under the guidance of the Scrutineering Venue Manager and the Chief Scrutineer, Scrutineering admin staff will provide assist in checking driver and vehicle details, as well as other tasks as required. 

*Training will be provided where required

SCRUTINEERING - TRAFFIC MARSHALS

Under the guidance of the Scrutineering Venue Manager, Chief Scrutineer and Chief Steward, the traffic marshals will assist in directing entrants, maintaining pedestrian safety, and ensuring there is no obstruction to the general traffic flow. 

*Training will be provided where required

SHOW N SHINE TEAM

Under the guidance of the Show N Shine Manager, team members will assist, inform and guide Rockynats entrants within the Show N Shine area.  Some of the tasks may include parking management, marshalling of cars within the staging area and traffic management (directing cars in and out of the precinct/s), and other areas or tasks as required.

*Training will be provided where required

STREET DRAGS

The Street Drags Team will work under the guidance of the Street Drags Manager and Chief Steward to assist, inform and guide Rockynats entrants in their participation in the street drags competition. Some of the tasks may include pre-staging checks, marshaling of cars within the staging area, track clean-up and other areas or tasks as required.

*An ANDRA Licence is required for this role

EVENT VOLUNTEERS

AVAILABLE ROLES

ACCESSIBILITY SERVICES

The accessibility team provide access to dedicated services for those patrons with a disability (such as an accessible viewing platform and accessible parking). Good people skills, patience and a caring nature are a must for this role.

ACCREDITATION CENTRE

This role is responsible for the distribution of accreditation for all event personnel (volunteers, suppliers, trade site holders etc). This role requires good computer skills and attention to detail. Some pre-event work may be required.

GATEKEEPER

Gatekeepers are responsible for checking accreditation at the gates, providing efficient access in and out of the precinct for residents and businesses.  A polite and happy manner is essential. 

GREETER

Greeters are responsible for welcoming event patrons and providing directional assistance. These volunteers are instrumental to the overall guest experience. If you like being outdoors and moving around, this may be the role for you!

INFORMATION BOOTH

The Information Booth is where everyone goes to find out all there is to know about the event and the precinct. If you are good with people and love offering assistance, this may be the role for you!

MEDIA CENTRE

The Media Centre is the principal location for all of our accredited media personnel including journalists and photographers. This role is responsible for assisting our Media Manager and media team with all their general administrative tasks. 

PLATINUM GUEST SERVICES

This role is responsible for meeting and greeting our platinum ticket holders and sponsors and providing them access into the VIP areas. A polite and happy manner and great personal presentation are essential. 

RUNNER

Our runners play an integral role, working closely with the Rockynats event management team to do miscellaneous jobs throughout the event. This role involves lots of walking, so best suited to those active-natured souls!

TICKETING SERVICES

The ticketing team is responsible for scanning tickets for all patrons entering the event precinct.  This is the ideal role for those who love to interact with lots of people and enjoy being part of a team environment. Onsite training will be provided.

TRANSPORT SERVICES

The transport team is responsible for checking accreditation of patrons wishing to utilise the event shuttle buses, monitoring queues and providing directional assistance. Good communication skills are essential.
