All entrants must hold a current, unrestricted, unsuspended driver’s licence. We check these too, so be honest.

Learner drivers are not permitted to be entrants. Drivers with provisional licenses are permitted to enter however, restrictions applied to the license conditions in the state of issue still apply at Rockynats.

Entrants under the age of 18 years must have a parent or guardian’s consent to participate.

VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS

Rockynats entrants are renowned for having the toughest highly modified cars in the country. They look, sound and go like nothing the factory would build today and their owners take ultimate pride in them. Rockynats is a modified car event and that’s what spectators from around the world come to see.

Have a sweet whip 30 years or older and in original condition? You qualify as well!

Vehicle requirements include:

1. Paint and body modifications
2. Engine performance upgrades and engine bay presentation
3. Custom fabrication
4. Wheel, suspension and brake upgrades
5. Custom interior, including aftermarket car audio components

RESTRICTED ENTRY

The following are examples of cases in which restricted access may be necessary;

• Entrants who cannot prove full registration
• Highly modified cars without an engineer’s certificate
• Purpose-built, unregistered, fully sign-written race cars
• Promotional vehicles

Entrant vehicles that don’t meet the safety requirements due to extensive modifications i.e. purpose-built nitro drag car, will be approved for entry but not permitted to participate in all events or cruise.

SPONSORED VEHICLES

Vehicles with paintwork or windscreens displaying excessive sponsor branding, advertising or marketing material are considered commercial participants and additional fees may be charged upon application approval.

DRIVER AND PASSENGER SEATING RULE FOR CRUISING

All vehicle seats must be fixed in place to an automotive industry acceptable standard, guidance information can be found in the Vehicle Standards Bulletin 14 (VSB14).

All occupants must be seated with an approved seatbelt securely fitted whilst the vehicle is in motion.

One vehicle can have multiple drivers, but all drivers need to complete and pay for a separate entry.

A limited number of Platinum Pass upgrades are available now, jump onto your application form and add the upgrade ticket from there. Platinum upgrades are extremely limited, so get yours now! 

All you need is your confirmation email including your scrutineering time. You will receive your wristband, complimentary buddy pass and entrant t-shirt at scrutineering.

You can participate in any of the various competitions/activities including the street parade, burnouts, street drags, show and shine, cruising and dyno. Just make sure you nominate for each of the activities you wish to participate in.  

You also have the luxury of being able to drive between each of the event precincts and park -up. All normal road rules will apply between event precincts.

Please note: Drifting is an exhibition/invitation activity only in 2021.

You can take part in the burnouts, street drags, dyno and some limited cruising within the event precincts. Make sure you have nominated for each of the activities you wish to participate in.

Simply trailer your car to either the Northside Precinct or the CBD Precinct, where there will be ample load/unload zones. Trailers can be parked at the Northside Precinct. However, there will be no trailer parking available in the CBD Precinct. Trailer parking will be available at the Rockhampton Showgrounds.

There is no street cruising for unregistered cars outside of the event precincts. All normal road rules will apply outside the event precincts.

All scrutineering will take place at the Rockhampton Showgrounds. Each entrant will be allocated a time slot, please refer to your emails or contact the team (02 6241 8111) for these times. Operating days and times are as follows:

• Tuesday 4pm – 9pm
• Wednesday 9am – 6pm
• Thursday 9am – 6pm

Yes, all entrants must go through scrutineering even if they are only participating in one event e.g. Street Parade. This is where the entrant vehicle will be checked for safety, worthiness and issued the event accreditation passes and stickers. 

Information about competitions including judging categories, driving events and layouts will be sent to all entrants closer to the event. 

Entrants both registered and unregistered are welcome to compete. Entrants are required to pass the drag racing scrutineering and run under the track limit of 6.36 ET for the 1/8mile.

You will need to use a trailer or a tilt tray. You will not be able to drive your unregistered car from one precinct to the other. Ask a mate with a trailer to help!

Here’s the Top 10 Street Parade Rules:

1. THE LEGAL STUFF | Please ensure your vehicle is road registered
2. LINE UP | Form up begins at 11.00am at Rockhampton Showgrounds for 1.00pm start. BE THERE!
3. FOLLOW THE LEADER | Always follow the instructions of the marshals when forming up.
4. CHECKS | NO drink driving, NO exceptions. Random Breath Tests and random boot checks will occur during form up.
5. TALK THE TALK |  Drivers MUST attend the compulsory drivers briefing at 12.00pm.
6. BEHAVIOUR |  NO burnouts, NO exceptions. Keep that excitement for the pad!
7. BUCKLE UP |  ALL people in your vehicle must wear a seat belt at ALL times, and must sit in a seat that is engineered for use.
8. ROAD RULES |  The Street Parade takes place on public roads. Therefore, all road rules, penalties and restrictions apply and are enforceable.
9. SPEED |  The maximum speed is 40km/hr. This keeps everyone safe and allows the punters to get a better look at your vehicle!
10. KEEP IT FUN | Enjoy the drive!

Yes, you participate in everything and limited cruising within event precincts. The only limitation for unregistered cars is you cannot drive your unregistered car to and from your hotel or between venues – you must use a trailer/tow truck etc. 

All vehicles are welcome to nominate, there will be a small number of unregistered vehicles included in the Street Parade. 

No, you do not.However if the competition you have nominated for is sanctioned by either Motorsport Australia and/or ANDRA, your entrant pass will include a Motorsport and ANDRA day licence only to participate at Rockynats. Other upgraded passes may be at the cost of the entrant. 

Your state license restrictions apply. Learner drivers are not accepted.

Car Clubs or individuals entering will get a club discount. When creating a new application form, simply tick the box stating, “Are you a car club member?” and enter the name of your club in the field beside it. This will automatically change the price of the tickets to an even cheaper price!”

Yes, methanol and other fuels will be available for sale in Rockhampton. However, Rockynats will not be providing a centralised fuel storage place. We will be obtaining all details of fuel that will be brought onsite and how much from all entrants. For more details click here. 

Judging will start at scrutineering and continue into the weekend. Mostly, at the Show n Shine at Quay Street. Entrants will be allocated specific days for judging, this will be communicated at a later date. 

Yes, security will be at venues overnight and will be supported by local police.

Yes. Burnout vehicles and trailers can also be left at the Burnout Precinct for the duration of Rockynats.

You may leave your vehicle within the CBD Precinct. However, we would advise against it as this will not be a secure precinct.

Vehicles and trailers can be left at the Rockhampton Showgrounds for the duration of the event.

Please note: All vehicles left at any of the precincts will be at the owner’s risk. 

Due to judging and Show n Shine being outside, displays that require power, flooring etc. are not practical. However, you are welcome to bring a display board and bollards.

For those entrants in the elite showcase you will have access to power and be able to bring flooring etc. 

Yes, there will be shuttle buses between each of the event precincts.

Rockynats is open to riders; Harley-Davidson, Custom, V-twin, Café Racers, Euro, Japanese and Heritage bikes.

Want to be judged in the bike show? Your bike needs to be cool, custom, crazy, or chopped. See the judging information for the type of awards on offer.

Just want to cruise the CBD, race a mate on the Quay Street 1/8 mile, or park up in the bike precinct? That’s cool. Just make sure your bike is well presented and road registered.

We’re setting up an exclusive bike precinct on Alma Street between William and Derby streets with traders, live music, biker games, Thunder Run and a judged Bike Show.

This precinct is free to the public and we’ve got space for hundreds of bikes. Let’s create a touch of Sturgis in Rocky.

There will be a Thunder Run – open to all riders - leaving Sunday morning from the Alma Street, Bike Precinct. More details to come. 

The legendary Doc Robinson from Heavy Duty and Harley-Davidson devotee Gaz Luxmoore for Escapade Motorcycle Tours head up the Rockynats bike show judging panel.

Doc has won and judged hundreds of national Custom Bike shows, including being a 7-time judge at the AMD Championship of Custom Bike Building in America.

Gaz was the Customer Experience Manager for H-D where he was responsible for the H.O.G Chapters and National and Regional (State) Rallies.
